Program Statement
It is our belief at Cougar Court Childcare that everything children do reflects their own individuality. Children need to express themselves and become comfortable with their identity. They need the opportunity to follow their own curiosities, choose their own activities and make their own decisions. Children need to feel welcome, happy and safe. Our provincial licensed centre provides each child with this opportunity. Educational and developmentally appropriate activities are planned for the individuals and groups to create, explore, and experiment. The activities will reflect a view of the children as being competent, capable, curious and rich in potential. Our children learn in a warm, stimulating setting. Each classroom follows a daily schedule that is theme based which incorporates indoor and outdoor play, active play, rest and quiet time, as well as giving consideration to individual needs of the children
Along with the importance of individuality, the children will learn how to live in a group that differs from a family setting. They will learn how to share space, materials, attention and the importance of the other people around them. Each child will be provided with an environment that will respect and honour children’s beliefs, culture, language and experiences acquirerd from ther family and community. It is our goal to help children maintain their individuality and freedom while at the same time encourage them to allow others the same right.
We strive to provide a stimulating program that offers services to children, families & the community, within the framework of the Child Care and Early Years Act and ideologies in Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years (“How Does Learning Happen”). Our Program is based on the following 5 areas of development:

Through creative activities, constructive and free play, we at Cougar Court Childcare Centre hope to offer you and your child a safe, warm and stimulating learning experience. Each child’s health, safety and well-being will be fostered through continuous conversations and during both indoor and outdoor activities.
Cougar Court Childcare’s staff are knowledgeable, empathetic, skilled and caring educators that provide a curriculum based on observations of children’s play and interactions, which correlates to individual observations. These observations are signed bi-monthly by parents but are available for parents to view at any time.

Better future through play
Our centre uses the Lillio App as a communication tool between teachers and parents. Teachers can send updates, photos, reminders, and notifications to parents to keep them updated. Parents can report an absence, send an inquiry or update the teachers on any important information. Parents are encouraged to check the Lillio App regularly for important updates!
